Dr. Khaled Sakhel is an Associate Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is also an OBGYN physician with special interest in minimally invasive robotic gynecologic surgery and gynecologic ultrasound. He also successfully established the outpatient office procedures suite. He served as chair and moderator of sessions as well as presented at national meetings.His other interests revolve around medical education, the business of medicine and healthcare improvement. He also served as principal investigator on numerous investigator initiated and industry sponsored trials. He participated in national and international committees and scientific advisory boards.

Luca Roncati, MD-PhD, DMLS, is Associate Editor of the European Journal of Gynaecological Oncology (EJGO), Medical Executive at the University Hospital of Modena, and Adjunct Professor at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy). Eponym of the Roncati-Manenti triad and describer of T rex lymphoma, he is the author of more than 250 academic publications, he has taken part in the scientific work of various national and international agencies or research groups, he has organized several conferences of national and international relevance, he has attended as a speaker at numerous congresses and seminars, he holds the intellectual property of an Italian and international patent for anticancer therapy, and he has obtained various national and supranational awards.

Sergey Suchkov was born in the City of Astrakhan, Russia, in a family of dynasty medical doctors. In 1980, graduated from Astrakhan State Med University and was awarded with MD. In 1985, maintained his PhD as a PhD student of the I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy and Inst of Med Enzymology. In 2001, maintained his Doctor Degree at the Nat Inst of Immunology, Russia. From 1989 through 1995, was being a Head of the Lab of Clin Immunology, Helmholtz Eye Research Inst in Moscow. From 1995 through 2004 - a Chair of the Dept for Clin Immunology, Moscow Clinical Research Institute (MONIKI). In 1993-1996, was a Secretary-in-Chief of the Edit Board, Biomedical Science, an int journal published jointly by the USSR Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK. Linda Jensen, Ph.D., RN, Professor of Graduate Nursing, Clarkson College, has taught and worked in nursing for over 50 years. Her research in nursing education, perinatal depression, and mental health recovery has been presented at conferences in the US, Australia, Austria, Hong Kong, Paris, Japan, and published in several nursing journals.

This presentation reflects on the shift from face to face teaching to online teaching at the college level, especially in colleges of Nursing and other health professions. The authors use the 10 Principles of Effective Online Teaching: Best Practices in Distance Education developed by Penn State’s World Campus1 and numerous other sources to evaluate their own practices and adjustment after over ten years of online teaching. The principles include: Show up and Teach, Practice Proactive Course Management Strategies, Establish Patterns of Activities, Plan for the Unplanned, Response Requested and Expected, Think Before You Write, Help Maintain Forward Progress, Safe and Secure, Quality Counts, and (Double) Click a Mile on My Connection. Informal data collection of comments from other higher education professors showed concerns about adaptations for online teaching. A recent change in learning management systems for one author validated and increased previous frustrations with learning new technology that seems more cumbersome and less adaptable. The presentation will close with recommendations for the authors’ own improvement in designing courses for online learning, as well as suggestions for institutions that employ online faculty to teach courses designed by someone other than the instructor.
