Endometriosis is a disorder where tissue that resembles the uterine lining develops outside of the uterus. The lining of the uterus is called endometrium. Ovaries, intestines, and pelvic tissues can all develop endometrial tissue as a result of endometriosis. That can happen, however endometrial tissue seldom spreads outside of the pelvic area.
